Holy Freebies! I woke up on a mission this morning. I have been trying for over a week to go to Dollar General and CVS to use some fantastic coupons, and today was the day. I was ready…list in hand, coupons clipped, hair tied back, and freebies on my mind! My first stop was Taco Bell where I ordered my son and daughter each a Cherry Limeade, thanks to the Taco Bell FREE Limeade coupon I got them both for FREE! My kids were happy and refreshed and I was happy and even more excited! =) Next stop was Dollar General, I walked out with $37.00 worth of products for FREE. Then I drove an hour to CVS (yes….an hour!!) where I got $119.80 worth of products for FREE! Not including the two FREE Limeade’s (I forgot to see how much they are normally), I got a total of $156.80 of name brand products for FREE simply by using coupons!
Here is my Dollar General Trip:
5 Carefree Liners, on sale for $1 each
Used Five (5) $1/1 off coupons (from 4/25 RP)
=5 FREE
5 Nivea Body Washes, on sale for $2.50 each
Used Five (5) $4/1 off coupons (from 5/2 RP)
=5 FREE + $7.50 overage ($1.50 overage on each)
6 Gillette Men’s Bodywash, on sale for $2 each
Used Three (3) $4/2 coupons (from 5/3 P&G)
=6 FREE
1 Welch’s Grape Juice, on sale for $2
Used $1/1 printable coupon
=$1.00 (FREE with my overage)
I also got the three packs of Trident Gum and a Onesie for my daughters baby doll. Before I threw in the gum and outfit Dollar General actually owed me money! =) I could have gotten a few dollars on a Dollar General Gift Card, but I chose to grab some gum and the onesie, which made my total $0.49 cents. =)
My CVS Trip
20 Covergirl Wetslicks, $5.99 a piece= $119.80
BOGO Free Sale: drops price to $59.90
10 BOGO Free Coupons: drops price to $0
=20 for FREE
CVS will combine a BOGO free sale with your BOGO free coupons and both items are FREE…and there is NO TAX! The BOGO free Covergirl coupons were in the 4/11 RP coupon insert. My insert didn’t come with them so I ordered my coupons from Ebay last week. They expire on 5/31 and the BOGO free sale runs thru Saturday…you could quite possibly still order them and get them in time to snag this deal!
Oh..and before I forget, I have to give a HUGE shout out to Koupon Karen for her assistance! I have not been shopping at CVS much because it is so far away. Karen is great at CVS’ing! I had a “deal idea” in mind and she was ever so grateful to confirm it’s validity for me! Check out her recent post on BOGO Free Items and BOGO Sales!
Coupons, Covergirl, CVS, dollar general, Free Products,
So…………….what exactly do you do with 20 lipglosses? |
HaHa, well…they make for great stocking stuffers, b-day presents, etc. =) |
Omg, I wish I was friends with you or I could drive a car!! All three places are right up the street heading to my favorite clothing store… which I just got a nice coupon from a few days ago. I love your site! I been doing the online sample requests for more than a year now but since I’ve found your site, I get something every week! |
Which coupon did you use? B1G1 CG Face Product? I thought a face product would be foundation or powder? |
did you use the 4 gillette coupons at one time to get them free at dollar general, because when i tried to use my 4 they told me that i could only use one because it would be a free item. |
Hey Brandie! So i got the coupons off of ebay a few days ago. Did you use the BOGO face product coupons? Wasn’t sure if they’d work for the lip products or not. |
So Is this sell still going on at the dollar general?? I have some of those coupons and I had no idea dollar general took coupons*they do right? Also when you have money owed to you after the coupon do they give you problems? That’s happened to me before.they told me at walgreens that’s wrong were not supposed to owe you money*so idk*please someone answer me because if that sell is still goin on I’m going today!!:) I’m new to the coupon world!! Thx* |
Yes..it was the BOGO Free Covergirl Face Product coupons =) Dollar General gave me NO problems with anything. They were very prepared to give me a gift card with my overage, I had a little line behind me so I threw the gum and stuff up there just so I didn’t have to wait any longer, haha. They were amazing at DG and CVS. Yesterday shopping trip went so smooth! I was very impressed with both stores. =) |
I got 6 Gillette Body Washes and used 3 coupons. They were $2 a piece and my coupons were for $4 off 2. =) Made all 6 FREE! I would have used more coupons to get more but they were running low on the Gillette Body Wash. |
My CVS would not let me use to BIGI Covergirl coupon for the lip gloss. They said it had to be a face product and lip gloss is a lip product (quote from them). Oh well… Maybe next time. |
My CVS would not let me use the BOGO Covergirl either. It beeped -item not here. I said that I thought that the lips were part of the “Face” they said, still no- it’s meant for the kind of product on the picture. |
The coupons will beep, a manager should approve the transaction. =) Lips are technically a face product, they should accept the coupons. Ask for the manager on your next stop. =) |
*Be prepared…some store managers DO NOT approve coupons that beep…(at Walgreens ALWAYS hand them the manufacturer coupons that you have, let cashier scan those, then hand over their store coupons-usually works that way)….as for Dollar General-coupon experiences VARY BY STORE…I had manager help and wasted thirty minutes in line stressing over why the coupons would not work…my advice:just be patient and prepared for the possibility of not getting the deal… |
TYPO..**if you “BUY” |
where did u get the coupons from? |
Thanks Brandie.. You need to let un know about these sooner.. I just threw out coupon we didnt use.. I am going to start keeping them now!!! How do you organize yours the ones that you don’t use regularly? I did however find the Nivia and Gillette ones. I’m excited and going to DG tonight!!! I have 2 close by so if one does’t work, I am going to the other!!! Let’s hope one works!!! Thanks for this site I LOVE it and visit everyday!!! |
I mentioned the Covergirl at CVS last week. =) Let me know how it goes at DG. I have all my coupons in a binder that I made with dividers. I use baseball card sleeves and photo sleeves. =) I clip and organize them ALL! |
Great work! I love seeing the deals you get! |
=) Thanks! It was pretty fun, haha! |
My DG will not let me use a coupon if it’s going to resort in a free item! |
Julie I would call corporate if I were you and report the store. Possible they just aren’t even aware of their own coupon policy. Print their coupon policy and bring it with you. |
I must have missed it last week.. Sorry! Thanks for all you do!!!! |
At least I know I’m not the only one having trouble at Dollar General!!! Read the post I put on Coupon Geek.com, about my experience there last night: I just went to my DG store, and they would not accept the coupon! The manager stood there and read it for about 5 minutes, LOL and then said it won’t scan through their system, because I would be getting it for free, with the sale price. They have a HUGE sign at check-out, CLEARLY STATING “We now accept Internet coupons”. I went back and forth with this guy, but he would not budge. I finally got totally aggravated, snatched the coupon from him, and told him I would take it up with their Corporate Office. I also made a show of reading his nametag on my way out of the store! SOOOOOO frustrating! I don’t even shop at that place; I specifically made a trip there JUST to get the deodorants! (Here is my other response to a reply I got from the site owner): Thanks for the response and reassurance! I knew that couldn’t be right! Like I had said, I have never been to a Dollar General store, so I didn’t know if maybe they had some kind of restriction on using coupons on sale items. When I got home last night, I went on their site and pulled up the coupon policy, and it says nothing whatsoever about that kind of coupon/situation not being allowed. I sent an e-mail to their Customer Service department, but have not yet gotten a reply. I also printed out the policy, and if I don’t get a response from Corporate by Saturday, I plan to go back to the store, coupon policy in hand, and get my deal! The more I think about it, I think the clerk/manager were just too lazy to push a few buttons on the cash register and fix the coupon! |
PS – if you’re driving an hour away to a store, that’s a lot of gas! I hope you’re deducting that from the amount you save, because that is certainly a factor in my mind |
I read your blog this afternoon and found the Gillete and Nivea body wash coupons. I went to DG after I picked up the kids from school and….they didn’t have either body wash! Ughhhh! I will try another store if I get a chance later today. Thanks for all your deals you post! |
Wow. Just… wow. |
*Just wanted to let u know..here in NC, the taco bell limeaid is $2.29!! (Got 2 already!!) U are SUPER COOL WITH THE FREEBIES! Will u come and go shopping with me sometime???? HeHeHe….* |
My Dollar General Store will not take coupon printed on a home printer. |
Here is the link to the Dollar General Coupon Policy (updated 4/2010) http://www.dollargeneral.com/OurStores/Pages/CouponPolicy.aspx It clearly states that they WILL accept internet printed coupons. I suggest anyone who is having issues at their local store, bring in the coupon policy. If they still argue, ask for corporate and talk to them right there in the store. |
Just wanted to let you know, I ended up contacting their Corporate Offices, and got a prompt call from the District Manager. He assured me that the store manager was wrong in not accepting the coupon – and he is also mailing me a gift card to use at the store, to make up for the problem. I am definitely satisfied – this makes up for it! |
Thats great Stephanie and I am so glad to hear that. That is exactly what they should do. It makes me so mad when managers don’t even know their own policies!!! |
I know! COMPLETELY frustrating! And as I told the DM, it wasn’t so much that the coupon wasn’t taken – it was the negative way the manager handled the situation, that REALLY got me. But, now I can get some free stuff on top of it – worth the aggravation! LOL |
I used 2 B1G1 Covergirl Qs at CVS successfully. And then I bought 10 more Qs from Ebay. The person I purchased them from lived on my way to my parent’s house which I was going to visit them this weekend anyways… so I picked them up today and tried to use them at another CVS unsuccessfully and then I went to another CVS down the street with no such luck even when I showed them my receipt with the successful transaction. The first manager was really shy and the 2nd store manager talked to me and my friend like we’re retarded (which was not appreciated). And then I went to the Proctor & Gamble website to find a # to call corporate, I found the Toll-free # to CoverGirl from their site so now i’m stuck with 19 B1G1 covergirl product Qs about to expire (the ebay guy that gave us some extra Qs) o what to do… |
Wags & cvs next week both have b1g1 50% off Covergirl products…so now those coupons have a future to look forward to haha i’m going to call the toll-free # again to see if eye-shadow is included.. |
I went to my DG this week and got the suave deod for free but I had to do 2 transactions. The scanner wouldn’t accept my 2nd coupon and the manager said you could only use one coupon on a sale item, the second wouldn’t be accepted. No huge deal as I only had two coupons but did you have trouble with your transactions and multiple coupons? |
no, there was no limit, I did it all in one transaction and none of the coupons beeped, they all went thru without any issues. |
[...] Welcome! |
I ended up going to 3 DG before I found the Nivea bodywash and 4 before I found the Gillette bodywash. All were with in 10 miles of my house. Strange that I have 4 DG that close to me. So anyway I got 4 Nivea’s and they ended up being $0.25 each and I got 2 Gillette’s for $0.32 total.. I just had to pay tax! I was very happy and did’t get any trouble from any store!! Thanks again!!! |
WOW!!! Brandie, you never cease to amaze me with these FREEbies. Thanks for the tips!!! |
the CVS here is having a 50 – 75 % off certain makeup products. I got 2 almay eyeliner, a powder, and 2 eye shadows for $9. I have paid $12 for the powder itself! |
